Images that confirm the presence.
The project examines the impact that Instagram as a network that distributes images has on the perception of modern man. The work establishes a spontaneous narrative by stacking in space. it consists of digital photographs and interactive drawings which function as a Grid and forms a square and simulates a green screen(Each square is one pixel). The drawings are made with acrylic paint on paper and the attempt to achieve the greenness of the green screen by manual procedure is understood as the impossibility of perfect participation in the age of digital perfection. Photos represent the opening of a personal Instagram profile to the general public in order to map the way we form an online identity.
All three terms (Ariana Grande, Instagram, Green Screen) refer to certain dualisms but they are all bound by the manipulation of the digital image. The green screen is the ultimate substitute for reality and a symbol of the unimagined possibilities it provides digitally.
Ariana Grande is a paradigm of desirable on Instagram. I choose her as a nod that illustrates the functioning of the digital system in a banal but precise way. She is perceived as a feminist, she encourages other women to conquer new territories. But by appropriating feminist ideas she purifies them of their political, makes them correct, recycles them and packs them into a form of advertising that arouses certain feelings and seemingly conveys an emancipatory message. that message is essentially in the service of promoting consumerism and unhealthy patterns of behavior. However in the case of Ariana Grande, everything remains hidden behind feminism. Here I draw a parallel with InstAgram itself. The whole activity of users is in the function of validation of social and economic status. it comes down to creating a desirable visual aesthetics that identifies them with a certain way of life and at the same time defines their belonging to a certain subculture.
The work transforms the field of digital. uses its potential by reducing it to a real space which more clearly indicates the variability of digital content and confirms the power of the digital image.
