The project MANY BOOKS MUCH SUGAR presents a series of drawings that through the mapping of the personal and the fantastic indicate the importance of persistence in a specific interest.
By focusing on its own raw representation of the imaginary the project points to the unexplored potential of common identification through seemingly naive symbols.
The series of drawings MANY BOOKS MUCH SUGAR was created in 2023. and was initiated by a short record of a dream.
DREAM;
I dreamed of a little horse HORSIE
green as a frog
The green horse, of course, does not exist.
The green horse represents an impossible identification. But it is precisely the impossibility of his existence that maps and makes possible the entire fantasy space in which the series itself is placed.
Without any pretensions that the project offer a dream as such in all its lucidity the initial impulse is transformed and a short note, a record of a dream, changes radically and personal affinities surface.
MANY BOOKS MUCH SUGAR thus becomes a mapping of the intimate world and not a recycling of a dream.
PROJECT do not follow any narrative flow but rely entirely on personal affinities, so the horse is not green but pink, it has wings, the house is a castle, clouds are not only in the sky but also underfoot, etc. Although the small and closed space of the drawing is clearly articulated and familiar- the sky is blue, the grass is green, the face is a portrait, etc. Finding inspiration in the phenomenon of archetypal images and everyday life, through a series of self-portraits, drawings of nature, transformed pets and the environment, the works represent a personal world that opens up to the viewer and invites him to reconnect with his unbridled imagination.
Establishing a simple system of signs and continuously repeating almost the same set of images the separate elements of the series correspond to each other and make the whole possible. The drawings evoke a small personal world where there are no limits and absolutely everything is possible. The world is mine!
Thus, through the expression of ultimate subjectivity a new form of identification occurs – the image ceases to be a private or individual thing, but becomes a point of common recognition.
